Worcester 2017 Show Secretary’s Report

By Louise Williams

Another glorious weekend with the weather arriving as ordered – maybe a little too hot but a few ice creams certainly helped!!

Firstly I would like to thank our club members (and several of their other halves) for all their efforts and hard work before, during and after the shows. We are only a small club so it takes an exceptional effort to get the show up and running.

A special mahoosive thanks to our camping team extraordinaire – Roy, Shelagh, Bronwyn, Mavis, John, Carol and Angie. None are club members but all volunteered their time and worked like troopers. Thank you so much we really appreciated your help. We had the most campers we’ve ever had this year but it all ran smoothly and there was ample space for everyone.
Huge thanks to Glenn (Julia’s better half) who came and blew all the cut grass away from the rings to give us the best surface possible. Glenn and Bill were then on car park duty, a sterling job guys – thank you 

I would also like to thank all our judges and stewards for giving up their time (and opportunity to compete) to spend the day with us. A big thank you to our chief steward Nigel Slater (fabulous to celebrate Sue’s good news with you both) and our chief stay steward Marcia Manning-Smith. Thanks to all the kind people who helped in the stay rings – a vastly under rated job but an essential one.
We had a visit from a Kennel Club Field Officer on championship day due to recent officer changes. He was extremely satisfied with everything and we have been graded excellent -for the third time running.

A very heartfelt thanks to our great friends Judy, Bill, Annegret, Bea, Tracey, Rob, Margaret, Tammy and Darren who worked like slaves doing anything that needed doing even judging & stewarding as well. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without you. Thank you from everyone at Worcester DTC.

Congratulations to the winners of our Open Show perpetual trophies:
Gerry Troth Trophy (winner of Pre Beginners) – Jessica Jones & Call Wag
Gerry Troth Trophy (winner of Beginners) – Alice Martin & Ready Teddy Go Go Go

Our ticket winners then ran off for the OB CH It’s Snow Fluke Memorial Trophy (judged and presented by Lynette Yates) with Kathy and Zuri emerging victorious.

We are not killjoys who wish to spoil anyone’s enjoyment and try to accommodate requests wherever possible. However, we are responsible for everyone at our show and our rules need to be followed for everyone’s safety.

The charity training ring raised £162.20 for our chosen charity St Richard’s Hospice whilst the Cinnamon Trust stall raised £101.00.
Our dates for 2018 are Sunday 26th August (open) and Monday 27th August (championship). Our ticket judges will be Janet Bates (dog) and Steve Frazer (bitch) – look forward to seeing you there J
