Chesvale 2017 Show Managers Report

CHESVALE DOG TRAINING CLUB
OPEN SHOW SUNDAY 27th AUGUST 2017

Clare and I just love organising this show!!!!

The weather fairies were really kind to us, in fact a little too kind as it got quite warm in the afternoon, warm enough to reduce some of the stay times. Thanks to our judges Sue Robinson, Carey Holah, Rita Holland, Kim Ford and not forgetting Chris Milner who stood in for Enid Diploock after she broke her ankle. Also thanks to their ring stewards, scoreboarders and all the stay stewards who volunteered during the morning under the watchful eye of Jim Nokes.

As usual our ladies in the kitchen laid on the most fantastic lunch menu with a groaning table of wonderful food and fantastic desserts. I think they assume that Gordon Ramsey is going to drop in and they are on Masterchef Dog Show!

The TWO training rings were manned by Sue Plunkett, Donna Bastin, Karen Harrison and Chrissie Skelly – with Howard Plunkett keeping them in line (well that’s what he told me). I can’t thank them enough for giving up their day to help competitors and day visitors with their training in a show environment together with a full set of stays in the stay ring after all the official stays were finished.

Our chosen charity this year is Macmillan. The training ring made £176.00, the tombola made £123.00 and the puzzle sale raised £31.50 meaning we have a fantastic £330.50 to donate. A special mention to Ciaran our tombola enforcer who hijacked everyone on their way to the toilet! Think you might see him on Dragons Den in the future.

We were let down at the last minute by our usual competitor caterers … what a pain! Well that was what I thought until we found a new caterer. What a godsend! Jackies Foods was simply brilliant. Clean, courteous, overflowing rolls and sandwiches at reasonable rates. Gluten free rolls and even a vegan chilli! They have agreed to do our show in May too so don’t have breakfast before you come!

Finally my thanks go to the entire Chesvale Team who work tirelessly on Saturday and Sunday to make this show such a pleasure and to all the competitors, many of whom expressed their thanks to us in organising the show for them.

See you on May 6th 2018 …. put it in the diary.
