Show secretary’s report – Ramsey

Well, where to begin… I feel like I’m about to embark on a speech celebs do when they win an Oscar… This year was Ramsey DTC first ever double obedience show and I think, if I do say so myself, that the event went off well with all dogs and competitors enjoying themselves!

The weather was extremely kind to us over both weekends and the dogs coped well, the show ground was armed with paddling pools, buckets and hoses so our four legged, fur wearing companions didn’t struggle. It was great to see new faces at our show and to see so many who had made the effort to come across.

On the Saturday evening of the first weekend we celebrated Jean’s big 4-0 party – granny themed to mark the occasion and what a laugh we had! Well, what could have possibly gone wrong with a group of drunken grans and granddads in the middle of a field on a bouncy castle?!

Sunday saw a few that were a little worse for wear (myself totally included!) but who still helped run the show smoothly so thank you for that!

In between the shows we were treated to a fun show ran by the Jarysmystic Possi. This was a great opportunity for us to work on things that may have not have gone to plan the first weekend. We hope you enjoyed running it and thank you for putting it on for us.

The second weekend again ran smoothly with more entries and the highest C entry we’ve had! This week, we enjoyed games organized by Jean and two fab charity classes ran by Pat and Linda. I think the Ramsey duo of Jean and Dawn had everyone on the show field and beyond in hysterics. But that’s what we try to make this show… FUN!

Massive congratulations too all that were placed over the weekends some fabulous work produced but as we all know, we all take the best dog home at the end of the day!

Finally to the people without whom none of this would be possible… deep breath, here we go:

To Pauline and Bram Moneta for the use of this fabulous venue.

To our judges who gave up their weekends, stood out in the heat all day in order for us to be able to compete, thank you for lovely rounds.

To our ring stewards, who gave up their day to steer us round the rounds – and excellent job done by all, special mention to Gemma and Pumba (the bump) – pregnant, in that heat and not a whinge in sight – if only you could enjoy a gin with us!!

To everybody who volunteered to help set up the show field, get tents up, collect lunches, kept judges watered and the endless tasks that need doing on the day to keep everything ticking over. Mandy, you were an absolute star who powered through jobs from the moment you arrived on the show field!

To my mum, Marie, who sits in that tent all day and meticulously ensures all paperwork, results, certificates and rosettes are ready to be presented at the end of the day!

To Jean, the birthday girl, who has been there for me since day one of show preparation, listened to my endless whinging been there to see (most of) the tantrums, filled out score sheets and who is the queen of show field set up and has generally just been a legend, honestly, I couldn’t have done it without you! Hope you enjoyed your party!

And lastly, to YOU, our competitors!! Without you, all this would not be able to take place. We know that there were shows being held across that were much closer to home for you so really thank you for making the effort to come across the pond to the rock. We really hope that you enjoyed the show and your time here! It was lovely to see all your adventures during the week popping up on Facebook.

See you all next year (hopefully) for the double take 2! And if you are ever thinking about having a trip to the Isle of Man, this is the perfect excuse to get over here!
I’m off to sleep for a week… See you all around the shows ? Voirrey Horne xxx
