Lichfield 2017 Show Secretary’s Report

By Tracey Pilsbury & Annegret Tach-Benton

This was our first attempt at running Lichfield show and luckily everything went well and we had no disasters! Ok, the weather could have been a little better on Sunday…we will remember to get the sun dance started earlier next year! ?The atmosphere around the show was lovely both days and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, which is what it’s all about!

Thank you to Carol from CSJ for your sponsorship and to our other trade stands for supporting our show.

Our venue looked lovely when we turned up and the groundsmen worked hard all weekend, emptying our bins and keeping the place tidy. We are very lucky to have such a nice venue and we are grateful that everyone who attended left the area so clean. We changed back to a hot lunch this year and our lovely ladies, Sue and Jenny from Sandwell farm did a fabulous job. We had a lot of very positive feedback from judges, which was great.

We are extremely lucky that Lichfield has so many experienced club members who have worked extremely hard and made our job far easier. From the organisation beforehand, to planning and marking the rings, to the shopping, to the set up and break down, to car parking, to serving lunch and manning the marquee…everyone knew what needed doing and just got on with it, meaning we didn’t have to worry about any of it. I won’t mention everyone by name as I am likely to miss someone out, but you all know who you are and thank you all for all of your help.

A huge THANK YOU has to go to our chief steward, first aider, to all of our judges, stewards, scoreboarders, scent decoys and to our caravan wardens and stay teams. Without you all, the show couldn’t run and we hope you all had a great weekend. We still have some vacancies for judges, should anyone want to sample our hospitality!

Thank you to our all of competitors for their entries and we hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Huge congratulations to our ticket winners, Geraldine Steadman and Caroline Ely and to our YKC winners, who qualified for Crufts. Good luck to you all on that green carpet.

Our dates for 2018 are 1st and 2nd September so we hope to see you all next year!

Tracey and Annegret.
