East Kilbride DTC Championship Show 2/9/18 Show Secretary’s Report

Well another show has come and gone and with it the end of the show season here in Scotland.

First of all, I would like to thank all of our judges & stewards for giving up their day to allow others to pursue and enjoy our fabulous hobby; and some of our judges were either judging or stewarding the day before at Kilmarnock so extra thanks go to those concerned.

As usual the show could not take place without those individuals who give a hand to ensure everything is in place on the day.

So huge thanks to the members of Burnbank who arrived at 7.00 in the morning, helped set up rings, carry tables & chairs, put up tents and controlled the parking – Thank You seems insufficient but I was overwhelmed by your generosity.

Our own members did not disappoint either – some of us were on the venue on Saturday afternoon planning the rings and loading up the kitchen and judges’ lunch area – THEN the troops appeared out of the morning mist on Sunday at 7.00 to start again; working like Trojans to set up on the field and to feed competitors and judges in the building. Sheena’s tea-room is legendary as is her home baking and Sue’s prowess in the lunch department earned her so many compliments.

Thank you to all who helped in the stay ring – especially Sandra who very kindly agreed to step in as Chief Stay Steward.

Even the weather complied with my plea for a dry day – we had a light drizzle towards the end of judging but it managed to hold back until we were on the drive home, so I must’ve done something right there lol.

It really makes the hard work worthwhile when you receive so many compliments at the end of the day, and we as a club try our best to put on a warm and friendly show each year, so I’d like to think we succeeded there.
Congratulations to all of our class winners from KC Special Pre-Beginners to Championship C – GOOD LUCK to all of you in the season ahead and for Crufts 2019.

Left at the show this year were:

  • 1 medium dumbbell with red string and white ends – no other distinguishing features
  • 1 black drawstring back with an assortment of toys, 2 treat tubs and 2 small dumbells – this was found on the bank at the presentation area.

I will be at Stanhope, Sandwell Valley and Wigton if anyone would like to arrange the safe return of either of these.

Thanks again to everyone and we look forward to seeing you all again on the 1st of September 2019
