Lune Valley 2017 Show Secretary Report

By Lesley Alsop

Well, I think I have just about recovered and dried out enough to say thank you to everyone who helped to make our show another success.

To all committee members and their ‘other halves’ thank you for putting on such a great show, to club members who came along to help, Kelly and Sinclair, Mary, Dave and Kay, your help was much appreciated and we hope you enjoyed yourselves!! To Harry and Jean, Phil and Molly, Tony and Gareth we couldn’t have done it without you.

There is always a shortage of men when it comes to the marque and obtaining the equipment from the farm and this year we had some brilliant help, I don’t think I lifted a single thing (except a cup of coffee and a pen!!). Thank you so much, hope to see you all next year!

Special thanks to Rhonda and Dave who each year produce an excellent buffet for the judges, with puddings to die for, and also feed the committee in the evening, see you both next year.

Thank you to Pat Wilson and the ‘Wigton’ crew, for marking out camping pitches and keeping everyone in order at the gate, each year we rely on your help and you never fail to deliver. Just to say I agree with everything Pat said in her judge’s report – don’t spoil it for other campers by taking up more space than allocated, we don’t mind gardens but think for your neighbours and consider other campers. Thanks again to Pat and her crew.

Thank you to all our judges and stewards, hope you all enjoyed your day and thank you to those that offered to judge next year. To Roly Jackson and Steve Rutter, our Chief Stay Stewards, not forgetting JP Greene, who stood in for Steve under extenuating circumstances!

Well done to all our winners, to Ann Rogers and Touch of Clubs Diamond Edge, winning bitch ticket and to Audrey Wilkinson and Nidderdale Paddy Power, winning the dog ticket.

Sorry about the weather on Sunday afternoon, it wasn’t what I ordered!!

Just one complaint, what about all the rubbish we had to clean up on Monday morning? You will probably have seen Alison’s photo on Facebook. If the bin is full DON’T leave you bag on the ground for someone else to clear up, walk down to the skip and throw it in, not difficult!! Usual problem with people not picking up after their dogs, again not difficult, we don’t want that job either!

That said thanks everyone for a great show – see you all next year.
