Show secretary’s report – Cheshire Dog Training Association

On behalf of Cheshire Dog Training Association, I would like to thank all those generous people who gave up their time to judge, steward or decoy at our double weekend Show and to all our competitors over the two days.

This was the first year of not only having our Show in June/July instead of June and October, but also holding a double weekend at a new Venue – and what a success it turned out to be with over 100 campers booked in.

We had a gloriously sunny, hot weekend but everywhere you looked were dogs in cool coats, or in cars/caravans with loads of fans and with all kinds of doggy paraphernalia blocking out the sun, and water buckets placed strategically throughout the venue for the dogs to have a cold drink. Stay times were cut considerably as well as the individual rounds set by the Judges.

The catering was scrumptious and I and committee members received many compliments from Judges, Stewards, Scoreboards etc, to pass to the Chef on how much they enjoyed their meals and, indeed, compliments from competitors on how much they enjoyed their weekend – many thanks to all but especially to Paul for providing the food and giving up his time to feed us all over the weekend. We were also lucky enough to have the legendary Kathy Mangan cake to offer our Judges (and ourselves !) at tea time.

Many thanks to Lesley and Alan Hardie for assisting with the booking-in of campers and for looking after the site over the weekend. Also, thanks to Wirral Alsation Club for sharing their knowledge of setting out the venue in the run-up to the Show and arranging for the water to be laid on for us.
Thanks to J.P. Greene for Chief Stay Steward on Saturday and to Colin Werner who took over on the Sunday and to Peter Height who took on the job of Chief Steward over the two days.

Our thanks to James Prince and his sons who took on the task of taking down the rings at the end of the Show – much appreciated.

We would like to wish our Ticket winners – Kathy Russell with Zuri and Mary Ray with Frankie (Aunt and Nephew) the very best of luck at Crufts 2019.

Finally, we could not have run the Show so successfully without the help of our club members and Committee.
