East Kilbride 2017 Show Secretary’s Report

By Anne Marie Parker

As usual the annual report begins with a huge thank you:

Thanks to all of the members and their families who turned out to help on the day, especially those who were on the field at 7.00 to assemble the rings and make sure everything was in order. Special mention goes to Kirsten, Joan and Alan who had done it all the day before at Kilmarnock.

Lichfield 2017 Show Secretary’s Report

By Tracey Pilsbury & Annegret Tach-Benton

This was our first attempt at running Lichfield show and luckily everything went well and we had no disasters! Ok, the weather could have been a little better on Sunday…we will remember to get the sun dance started earlier next year! ?The atmosphere around the show was lovely both days and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, which is what it’s all about!

Well that’s it for another year .Many thanks to all the Judges, Stewards , club members and non members who gave up their day to make the show possible. Fortunately the weather was very kind to us this year which always makes for a good day. Pet Needs were again in attendance and kindly donated the trophies to the winners who also received a goodie bag from our sponsor this year Platinum UK dog food.

CHESVALE DOG TRAINING CLUB
OPEN SHOW SUNDAY 27th AUGUST 2017

Clare and I just love organising this show!!!!

The weather fairies were really kind to us, in fact a little too kind as it got quite warm in the afternoon, warm enough to reduce some of the stay times. Thanks to our judges Sue Robinson, Carey Holah, Rita Holland, Kim Ford and not forgetting Chris Milner who stood in for Enid Diploock after she broke her ankle. Also thanks to their ring stewards, scoreboarders and all the stay stewards who volunteered during the morning under the watchful eye of Jim Nokes.

Changes to deter hackers

The ObUK website has been hit now a few times by hackers, and although peoples passwords are not openly being displayed on the site, a determined hacker could get hold of them.

It’s been suggested to me that I should hold the passwords as a hashed character string (via an algorithm), and hence the site (and me) would not know your password.

This means that “the hacker” could not retrieve the password from the site.

Crufts Reports 2017 by Bronwyn Bartley

This report was originally published in Dog World after Crufts 2017

Thursday – Inter-Regional Rally Competition followed by Obreedience.

Crufts is the show which the majority of dog people always look forward to but this year, for the first time the show opened with the newly introduced Inter-Regional Rally Competition. This is the first time Rally has been held as a competition at Crufts so it will be interesting for people who are new to the competition and watching it for the first time.

Cippenham 2017 Show Secretary Report

By Sarah Wheeler

What a fantastic weekend we had! The sun shone and the venue looked fantastic.

It all started last Friday with the arrival of our huge marquee and spotlessly clean loos. Both are a significant investment for our small Club, but I think you will agree that they both made a huge difference to the overall feel and running of the Show this year. Thanks must go to our lovely suppliers; Tops Marquees and TULU.

Huge thanks must also go to the Events Team at Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) led by Danielle Tikare. Danielle is new in post and could not have been more helpful if she tried. The condition of the show ground has been greatly improved, and she even asked how close we would like the grass cut in millimetres!! I think you will all agree that it was a vast improvement on last year.

Chadkirk 2017 Show Secretary Report

By Jan Tootall

So proud of members of Chadkirk Dog Training Club for putting on a grand show last weekend. Not many show organizers have the privilege of having so many people who know exactly what to do, where and when without asking. The teamwork and camaraderie was exemplary, without which, the show weekend would not have run as smoothly as it did. This done with bad backs, shoulders, hips and knees!
